Firekeeper Alliance Records

The Firekeeper Alliance tree sprouted a new branch! We’re proud to introduce Firekeeper Alliance Records, a newly created endeavor to elevate artists we believe in, create opportunities for emerging musicians, and build a bigger platform for Indigenous artists.

Music has always been central to the mission of FKA. It creates community. It strengthens identity and belonging. And through our work with BPS students, artists we love, and Fire in the Mountains, we've seen what can happen when people are given not only a stage, but the tools and opportunity to create.

Our long-term vision is big: build a headquarters in Browning with space to offer subsidized counseling sessions, along with a state-of-the-art recording studio right down the hall. We want to increase access to strengths based clinical resources in our community while at the same time making professional recording, equipment, production, and creative support accessible to artists who might otherwise be priced out of those spaces.

We want to record bands we love. Take chances on artists we believe in. Support heavy, experimental, independent, weird, beautiful, and uncompromising music. And especially, create more opportunities for Indigenous musicians to make ambitious art on their own terms and get it out into the world.

The studio will also become another classroom; giving our young people hands-on experience in recording, engineering, production, songwriting, photography, film, design, promotion, and all the work that happens around the music.

We're not particularly interested in building a traditional record label. Trust us, this is not about money. We want to build infrastructure for creativity in Indian Country.

A place to make things. A place to collaborate. A place for young people to discover what's possible. A place for artists with something to say. Let’s make some noise.

Pōnōkǎ Live at Fire in the Mountains

And we're starting this new branch of Firekeeper Alliance right here at home. We couldn’t be more proud to announce that the first release from Firekeeper Alliance Records comes from Browning, Montana via the post-colonial apocalyptic doom duo Pōnōkǎ. Their first-ever show happened at Fire in the Mountains, a crushing, hypnotic set that exploded brains and melted faces. We captured it live, and now we're putting it out into the world.

Two exceptional dudes making brutally heavy music on the Blackfeet Nation. No better place for FKA Records to begin.

Pōnōkǎ Live at Fire in the Mountains. Available Friday, August 28 through Firekeeper Alliance Records.

Keep the fire burning 🔥
